The Story So Far

RideSafe began with a simple observation: too many charities and community organisations were having to use precious funding to arrange transport for the people who needed their services most.

As Sendacar Ltd expanded its specialist airport transfer operations and launched Derby Cars – Driven by Derby, director Michael Rowlands became increasingly aware of the transport challenges faced by vulnerable individuals. For many people, getting safely to appointments, support sessions, education or community activities can be a significant barrier and charities were often left covering the cost, eroding funds from frontline services.

Wanting to make a difference, Michael approached Tracey Harrison, CEO of Safe and Sound Group to explore whether a transport support pilot could help. The Derby based charity works with children and young people who have experienced or are at risk of, exploitation and the project quickly demonstrated the value that safe, reliable transport could bring.

The idea gained further momentum following conversations with Amanda Ellse. Sharing the vision, Cosy Direct agreed to match-fund the initiative, providing the support needed to turn a small pilot into something much bigger.

From those early discussions, RideSafe was born.

While still in its early stages, RideSafe’s ambition is clear: to help remove transport barriers for vulnerable people, support the incredible work of charities and community organisations, and ensure that more funding can be directed where it belongs, towards frontline services and life changing support.

This is the story so far. The next chapter is about building corporate partnerships, expanding our reach and helping even more people access the support they need, safely and with dignity.
